More and More: A Midyear Update from Rooted
Hello Rooted Prayer Partners,
We have run into the New Year with a full head of steam, filled with meaningful learning and serving opportunities—and we have now officially reached the halfway point of the Rooted year.
WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING
We recently completed our focus on the Old Testament, including a class on Wisdom Literature taught by Pastor Bruce Hillman, and have stepped into our New Testament studies with an intensive course on the Gospel of Luke. Alongside this, we participated in an incredibly practical class focused on reconciliation - helping ourselves and others grow in restored relationship with Jesus, who has reconciled us to the Father.
In addition to our classroom learning, we had the opportunity to serve at two youth retreats this past week. Rooted students preached, shared their testimonies, and helped lead activities throughout the weekends. We were also privileged to travel to Washington, D.C. to join the national March for Life.
Prayer Topics
We are beginning February by traveling to Alberta, Canada, where we will spend the week partnering with students at the Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute to study the book of Galatians together.
Please pray for this trip, as well as two additional trips we will be taking in March - that each would be marked by being both blessed and a blessing to others.
1 Thessalonians 4:1 says, “Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.” Please pray that each of us would continue to grow more and more in our understanding of our identity in Christ, and more and more in living lives that please God.
We are receiving many applications and inquiries for Rooted’s third session. Please pray for these students, and for wisdom and discernment as we seek to form the next Rooted community.
A Request
A number of students - both those currently in Rooted and those hoping to join in the future - struggle to cover the full cost of the program. While we are able to offer some scholarship assistance, we are actively seeking to grow these resources. We are also looking for individuals or churches who may feel called to come alongside specific students to help make their participation possible.
Last year, we were blessed by a generous church that covered half of one student’s tuition. If you would be interested in supporting a student this year or in the future, I would love to connect with you. Please feel free to email me at roger.viksnes@gmail.com.
Thank you for your continued prayers and partnership - we are deeply grateful for the ways you walk alongside Rooted.
Rooted - and continually being rooted deeper,
Roger Viksnes
