A Busy Summer Update From Rooted

You may not have heard from us in awhile, but I'm excited to tell you all that has been happening!

We are in Rooted’s off-season, although this season has been anything but “off.” Jenny and I traveled to Warm Beach Bible Camp, served alongside the counselors at Tuscarora’s Junior Week, and shared about Rooted at the Lutheran Brethren Youth Convention in Kentucky.

It has been a blur, but it has also brought wonderful blessings.

Our four incoming students from the Pacific Coast were all together at Warm Beach. Then, in Kentucky, Jenny and I played in a volleyball tournament with three former Rooted students and three future students.

Unfortunately, we lost our first game, but it was still a gift to have everyone together!

Now, everything is moving quickly toward September 12, when our new class arrives!

We are preparing for what will be our largest Rooted class yet - 14 students! Students have begun connecting with one another, and we are excited about the community God is bringing together from across the country and beyond.

More students also means we need more room.

Over the past several weeks, volunteers have been hard at work transforming the first floor of the Carriage House. What had been used for storage is becoming a new student living space with three bedrooms and a large dormitory-style bathroom.

The work is well underway, and it has been incredible to watch this space take shape. We are deeply thankful for every volunteer who has given their time and skills to help make it possible.

There is still work to be done before students arrive. If you would like to help Rooted prepare for this growing class, gifts toward the Carriage House and final student preparations would be a tremendous blessing.

Most importantly, would you please continue praying with us?

  • Pray that the remaining Carriage House work will be completed before September 12.

  • Pray for everyone helping with the final preparations.

  • Pray for each incoming student as they prepare to leave home and begin this year.

  • Pray that God would form this class into a strong, Christ-centered community.

  • Pray for the students from our first two classes, that they would continue growing closer to God and clearly see where He is calling them to use their gifts.

The off-season has been anything but quiet. God is growing Rooted, providing what is needed, and preparing the way for a very exciting year.

Thank you for praying, encouraging, giving, and walking alongside us. We cannot wait to welcome this new class!

Roger
